About Hillside

The Village of Hillside is a vibrant suburb of Chicago, located 15 miles west of Chicago’s Loop. The Village encompasses an area of 3.15 square miles, the majority of which are level to slightly rolling in topography. Its mid-western location allows Hillside to experience four distinct seasonal changes annually, with a wide temperature range between winter and summer.

The easily accessible highways advantageously place the Loop, Wisconsin, and Indiana within 35 minutes of Hillside. The Village is conveniently located approximately three miles east of the CTA Blue Line (L) in Forest Park, where a commuter station and parking facility accommodates accessibility to Chicago’s Loop. Downtown Chicago workers may also drive south to the BSNF rail station in downtown La Grange or Western Springs, or north to access the Union Pacific West rail line in Berkely or Bellwood.

The population stands at 8,320 according to the 2020 census. Hillside’s elected governing body is comprised of a Mayor (President) and six at large Trustees, all serving four-year terms. A highly dedicated, full time Administrative Officer is in charge of day-to-day operations. Village administrators strive to be readily available to the public and welcome the opportunity to connect.

The Municipal Government in Hillside is a multi-service organization, providing a range of services designed to fulfill the needs of its residents, such as Police, Fire, Public Works, Street and Inspection Services.
